Chegou. O aguardadíssimo sucessor do Tri-State de 2006. E esta terapia de grupo produziu, na minha opinião, grandes resultados. O álbum deles enquanto Oceanlab foi quase perfeito, com algumas das faixas a tornarem-se logo clássicos instantâneos e a merecerem um lugar de destaque ao lado de monstros sagrados já imortalizados como a Satellite ou a Clear Blue Water. Excelente produção, Justine Suissa e um bom songwriting é uma aposta ganha.
Não é a obra prima que eu esperava, tal como muitos por esse mundo, como sucessor directo do Tri-State. É algo diferente. Mas vale muito a pena.
Desde o Perfect World de DT8 Project em 2007, pseudónimo/alias do Darren Tate (e algumas músicas do The New Daylight do Dash Berlin), que eu não gostava tanto de um álbum tão vocal. E isto é, a meu ver (e nos dias que correm para o Trance), um elogio tremendo, se tivermos em conta a quantidade de faixas de Trance Vocal que são lançadas semanalmente. Muitas medíocres, algumas razoáveis, outras tantas más e poucas muito boas. Muitas vezes as faixas até são bem produzidas, mas a qualidade da ou do vocalista não estão em sintonia com o resto. Quando isso não acontece, é difícil uma faixa continuar connosco. Também é importante uma boa letra. O Trance Vocal não se coaduna com meros "Oh yeah" ou com a palavra "baby" repetida vezes sem conta.
Sim, este é um álbum eminentemente vocal. Mas tal como o Perfect World, há uma consistência e uma fluidez por detrás, para além de uma excelente e cuidada produção, vocalistas com provas dadas e letras cujos temas, nas mesmas letras, ao contrário da maioria das suas congéneres, não são só sobre amor e perda. Muitas começam aí mas mas vão para além disso. E há poesia nelas. os A&B sempre fizeram um excelente uso das imagens como recurso estilístico em muitas das suas letras. A Ashes no Sirens of the Sea de Oceanlab é um bom exemplo disso. Mas também muitos eufemismos e símbolos. Neste Group Therapy, há beleza mesmo na dor e na perda. A melancólica e pensativa Every Little Beat (talvez seja por isso que durante toda a faixa não há um clap, apenas o kick), que nos pinta o cenário de um final próximo de uma relação (tema banal em inúmeras músicas) oferece-nos um sujeito da acção com uma sinceridade surpreendente e plena de imagens. Neste contexto, há lines lindas aqui, como "I've run out of Heaven" ou "Your head's in the sky but i'm underground".
Este álbum é Group Therapy porque todos os temas abordados nele, são temas nossos, muito humanos. Falam de nós, sobre nós e muito para nós, e das nossas preocupações especialmente nestes tempos conturbados em que "tudo é incerto e derradeiro/tudo é disperso, nada é inteiro" como escreveu o Poeta. Como numa terapia de grupo, estas ansiedades, receios e preocupações são descritas pelos pacientes com toda a sinceridade e emoção, e deixadas ao nosso julgamento, quando as ouvimos. Quase no final desta viagem, pedem-nos para não nos esquecermos de uma coisa chamado Amor. Sim, com A. O amor global, uno, que devia superar tudo e que anda algo esquecido. Nada mais a dizer. Nada mais a partilhar com o ouvinte. Restam apenas algumas coisas. E elas, as coisas, são ditas pela voz celestial e encantadora da Zoe Johnston, numa performance muito intimista e que ao longo do álbum, também ela, a voz, tem grandes momentos, tal como o Richard Bedford, já nosso conhecido da Alone Tonight e tantas outras dos A&B.
Algumas músicas são mais para o "Pop Trance". Mas Pop Trance de muito boa qualidade. Nem mesmo o novo álbum do ATB, que tá bastante bom, e que tal como este é maioritariamente vocal, consegue chegar ao nível deste.
Só lamento a falta de mais faixas instrumentais, mas sou largamente compensado com outros, também eles muito bons, motivos de interesse.
Destaco a Black Room Boy. A temática abordada é a mesma da letra da Virtual Friend no Mirage do Armin. A diferença é que parte daí, para chegar à envolvente pessoal e social do sujeito da acção. E que crítica social tem! Arrepiante, também pela performance aqui do Richard Bedford.
Gosto de todas as músicas deste álbum. Algo que acontece raramente comigo, em álbuns de EDM.
Não desenrolo mais do novelo. Este é um álbum para ser ouvido, tanto como para ser dançado ao seu ritmo.
